Home Healthcare is a family business. It was founded by Annie, who has over 20 years of nursing experience, including specialist district nursing and NHS management. Anne-Marie, her daughter, now runs the day to day business.
During Annie’s professional nursing career, she worked with GP surgeries to provide nursing care, as well as teaching students and training nurses and providing counseling services within the charity sector. Annie is also trained in a number of specialist key areas including wound management, dermatology, district nursing, and palliative care.
A few years ago, Annie unexpectedly was left paralysed after a routine medical event. She needed care at home and found the whole experience desperately frustrating. It felt like no one treated her as a person, and that her previous experience was ignored by a rotating team of staff who were just doing a job. For her family, it was a difficult time too, watching her struggle to find good care from people she liked and trusted.

This experience gave Annie an insight into what care was like for lots of people and sparked a passion to do things differently. Home Healthcare was built from that experience as part of a Lennard Cheshire and Barclays Bank collaboration to support disabled entrepreneurs in to business. Annie’s combination of hands-on nursing experience alongside fifteen years in service management ensured that Home Healthcare’s management standards were second to none, and Anne-Marie and the team continue to pass these on to every member of our hand-picked staff of Kent and south London nurses and carers.
